Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), India’s leading cement company, organized a valedictory ceremony for its DIKSHa (Dalmia Institute of Knowledge and Skill Harnessing) trainees in Lanka, Assam today. 30 students from the center were felicitated for the successful completion of their training course as Assistant Electricians and have been awarded placements. The DIKSHa centre in Lanka facilitates training for youth in the neighbouring 20 villages and has successfully trained over 400 students till date. The centre offers training courses to pursue careers as Retail Sales Associate, Assistant Electrician and Customer Relationship Management and provides job placement assistance to trainees. Mr. Kamkhogin Vaiphei, District Development Manager, NABARD, West Karbi Anglong, handed over the certificates to the trainees during the ceremony and congratulated them for their achievement. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Navin Basumatary, Lead District Manager, SBI, Karbi Anglong, Mr. Uday Singh Rajput, Unit Head, DCBL – Lanka and Mr. Mrinal Baruah, Deputy General Manager – Human Resource, DCBL- Lanka along with other key officials.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Uday Singh Rajput, Unit Head, DCBL said “At Dalmia Bharat, empowering youth through skill development and enabling them for sustainable livelihood is at the core of our community initiatives. At DIKSHA, our approach ensures that our learners are not only well-versed in their chosen fields but are also equipped with a holistic skill set to excel in their careers. We are proud to witness the accomplishment of our trainees and congratulate each of them for their dedicated efforts. We also extend our gratitude to NABARD and other key partners who have contributed to the success of this endeavour.”
DIKSHa, the flagship project from Dalmia Bharat Foundation provides placement-linked, short-term skill training to youth and women, adding them to skilled workforce for enhanced income. The DIKSHa centre in Lanka has been positively impacting the lives of youth in the surrounding villages since its inception in October 2021. The centre focuses on collective projects with partner organisations and government agencies like NABARD, NSFDC etc. It has been persistently working towards mobilizing and awareness building for skill development among rural youth and have tie ups with government colleges for awareness camps and walk-in admissions.
