The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has finally entered the Northeast region of the country after a foreign returnee has been detected positive for the variant in Manipur.
The man who has tested positive for Omicron is 48-years old and had returned from Tanzania. He hails from the Imphal West district of the state
The man was tested positive for COVID-19 on December 21 and is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS, in Imphal.
Meanwhile, the number of Omicron cases in India has risen to 578.
