Assam: The Assam government has decided to increase the ration allowance for the state’s police constables from the existing Rs. 1200 to Rs. 2,000. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Currently, the constables are getting a food allowance of Rs. 1,200 per month.
From October 1 onwards, the monthly ration allowance of the constables shall be increased to Rs. 2,000.” A similar benefit will also likely be extended to the forest police battalion.
Sarma said, “We will also be making a similar announcement for the forest police battalion, provided we get an application from their side.”
He also announced that the government has decided to change the home quarantine rules for air passengers arriving in the capital city of Guwahati.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Assam is rising at an alarming rate. However, the recovery rate is about 82 percent, which is impressive.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Health Minister of Assam also informed that the number of tests in Assam has crossed over 30 lakhs. Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed that the government is planning to conduct over 1 lakh tests for 3 consecutive days. This step is taken to ramp up the testing.
