With the investigation on the Assam Police the Sub-Inspector (SI) job scam going on in full swing, the police have been successful in nabbing 19 people in connection with the fiasco.
The CID has arrested four people so far, while the Guwahati Police”s Crime Branch has nabbed nine people. The Nalbari district police have also arrested six people.
Nalbari has turned into an epicenter of the Assam SI job scam as Nalbari Police arrested five candidates who appeared in an illegal exam at ‘Thank You’ lodge in Guwahati a day before the exam. While another Kumud Goswami, an agriculture department employee was also picked up from Nalbari for his alleged involvement in the question paper leak. Interestingly, Goswami was also allegedly involved in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department (PNRD) recruitment scam.
Addressing a press conference, the Director-General of Police said that any person, irrespective of his political affiliation or post, will be arrested if found involved in the leaking of the question paper of the examination for recruiting unarmed sub-inspectors.
Meanwhile, the prime accused PK Dutta and Diban Deka are on the run. The Assam Police has issued lookout notices and announced a cash reward of Rs. 1 Lakh each for information on the whereabouts of the two.
