Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday expressed his condolence on the death of CN Roben Das and also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakhs to the kin of the slain jawan.
The Assam Police constable lost his life during an operation to nab cow smugglers along the Indo-Bangla border in Mankachar on Sunday early morning.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Police said, “During an operation by @SSalmaraPolice near Indo-Bangladesh Border to nab cattle smugglers, CN Roben Das made the supreme sacrifice when he drowned while attempting to apprehend the culprits. We offer our deepest condolences to his family & will always be inspired by his bravery.”

Sonowal further directed the police and district administrations to show appropriate honour to the late constable.
