A violent clash broke out on October 17 in the Cachar district along the Assam-Mizoram border following days of boiling tension along the border. The clash resulted in several people getting injured and many shops and houses being set ablaze.
Officials from both sides have stated that the situation is currently under control.
In the aftermath of the clashes, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called on Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised him of the situation in the border.

CM Sonowal also spoke to his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga and agreed to resolve the border issue amicably.
A meeting between the two states chaired by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla is currently underway to discuss the situation. The Chief Secretaries of both states are also present in the meeting.
