On Sunday morning two freelancing hog deer managed to find their way out from the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, Guwahati, and seek shelter at a nearby house.
The house owner informed the zoo authorities about the escape and closed the gates of the premises.
Soon rescuers from the state zoo arrived at the scene and took over the rescue operation and managed to catch a deer in the nets, however, the other managed to escape.
Assam State Zoo Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Tejas Mariswamy, speaking exclusively to Headline8 informed that the two hog deer that escaped are wild and came from the mountain. The other was caught in the nets by rescuers and was freed back into the mountain.
