United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) President, Pramod Bodo on Monday morning reached the polling booth driving a tractor to cast his vote in the first phase of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.
After casting his vote, the UPPL party President spoke to the media and said, “In the last 17 years, Hagrama Mohilary has done nothing for the poor and deprived people of Bodoland, rather he shammed them in every possible way.
Irrespective of caste, religion, and creed people be it Assamese, Rabha, Bodo, Hindu, Muslim, Christian have come from different parts of the North-Eastern states just to cast their vote.
Everyone wants change, several people have been calling me from yesterday night informing me that they are traveling from Jorhat, Shillong, Guwahati, West Bengal just to cast their vote.”
“Some even called me just to let me know that they are supporting the UPPL party. I believe that our party will surely win the election this time and change the face of BTC.” the party President further added.
The first phase of BTC elections started on Monday morning from 7:30 and will end at 4:30 pm. Voters were seen queuing up since early morning to cast their vote. Polling for a total of 21 constituencies was held in Udalguri and Baksa districts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).
The second phase of the BTC elections will be held on December 10 in the remaining two districts of BTAD.
