Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams of N. F. Railway in three different instances apprehended two scalpers and a thief involved in illegal selling of e-tickets and theft of passenger belongings.
The trio was also alleged for illegally selling railway e-tickets for special train services and theft. The RPF was also successful in recovering a total of 212 railway e-tickets worth over Rs. 3.65 lakh.
Based on an information received regarding touting activities, RPF teams of Katihar (East), Dalkolha, and Kishanganj RPF Post conducted a raid and searched a shop named ‘Digital World Tour & Travels’ situated at Bahadurganj of Kishanganj district (Bihar).
The RPF team recovered 18 live e-tickets of value Rs. 56,295.74 and 190 used e-tickets worth Rs. 3,04,808.85, the team also apprehended the owner of the shop, Amar Deep.
A computer set, two mobile handsets with SIM cards, and cash were also recovered.
The e-tickets were generated using different personnel user IDs.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Kishanganj RPF Post under section 143 Railway Act.
In another incident, an RPF team of Katihar (West) RPF Post conducted a raid at a shop, ‘Laddu mobiles Electronic’ situated at Bairia, under Amdabad Police Station, Katihar district (Bihar). The team also apprehended a person named Ahmad Raja for illegally selling railway e-tickets.
A total of four railway e-tickets valued Rs. 4584 which were generated using personnel IDs. Two Mobile phones, a computer, and a printer with other relevant shreds of evidence were recovered from the scene. A case under section 143 Railway Act has been registered at the Katihar (West) RPF Post.
Train Escort Party of Train No. 05910 Lalgarh- Dibrugarh (Avadh Assam Express) Special train on December 15 apprehended a thief named Rahul Choudhury. He was apprehended during his attempt to lady passenger’s handbag while she was asleep at Barpeta Road Railway Station. The Apprehendee has been handed over to the Officer-in-Charge (OC), Government Railway Police (GRP), Guwahati and was registered under section 380/ 511 Indian Penal Code (IPC).
