In a tragic turn of events, six workers died in a mishap inside an abandoned coal mine pit in East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya.
As per reports, workers were trying to dig a tunnel inside the abandoned pit when the mishap occurred. The machine they were using to dig the tunnel collapsed and workers slipped into deep water in the coal mine.
A total of six dead bodies has been retrieved on Friday morning and five of them have been identified. All the six dead hails from neighboring state, Assam.
The incident took place in Deinsala village in the Rymbai area. However, the owner of the pit is still to be traced. This recent incident is almost similar to another incident that took place in December 2018 when 13 people were buried alive in Lumthari village in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.
