In a bid to boost up the movie theatre business which was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) announced that cinema halls would operate in full capacity from February 1.
The ministry with the approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also released guidelines for the opening of the halls.
The halls will have to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols. Thermal screening is made mandatory at the entry points and a time gap is to be maintained between two movie shows. Sanitisation facility as well as COVID protocols would need to be followed. Cinema-goers can buy food items from the stalls at the theatres and take them inside the movie halls.
