Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati Joint Director, Samrat Bandopadhyay was present at the orientation program.
He emphasized that all personals in AIR engaged in coverage of elections must familiarize themselves with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act and the rules issued thereunder.
He further said that strict adherence to the legal provisions must be ensured.
The Joint Director structured his discussion on guidelines to Do’s and Don’Ts, Model Code of Conduct, Coverage of the Election manifestos, Verification of polling percentage, Authentication of Poll results.
In this interactive session with the PTCs of AIR, Samrat Bandopadhyay addressed their queries on Election.
He suggested that the “balanced news” is very vital as per the guidelines of AIR News during elections along with the norms/ rules of the Election Commission.

Joint CEO, Assam, Rahul Das also discussed in detail the role of the Election Commission. He emphasized on ‘SVEEP’ and Enhancing Voter’s participation and the role of the Election Commission as he replied to the queries of PTCs.
Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade and AIR (Delhi) Principal Director General N. Venudhar Reddy graced their presence as Chief Guests.
Senior Officials from Doordarshan, AIR, PIB attended the workshop that discussed the election guidelines.
