Former two-time MLA of Bhawanipur, Bajali district Abdul Kalam Azad on Tuesday announced his resignation from AIUDF.
The minister has decided to contest in the Bajali constituency as an independent candidate. Phani Talukdar got the ticket from the AIUDF party to contest in Assam Assembly election.
He also expressed his confidence that people will support him as an independent candidate.
During the meeting held at Sukmanah bazaar, many of Kalam’s followers also resigned from the party. They even shouted slogans of injustice as their favorite candidate was denied ticket even after winning twice from Bajali constituency.
Slamming AIUDF party leader Badruddin Ajmal and Phani Talukdar, the former two time MLA stated;
“I have resigned from AIUDF as the party provided ticket to Phani Talukdar. The people of the area want me to contest from the constituency as they do not support any other candidate.”
The minister also expressed deep concern at the party’s decision to provide ticket to Phani Talukdar.
