The political scenario of Assam is vastly gripping as several AIDUF and Congress candidates have been shifted to other States before the announcement of poll results.
Political parties in Assam have started keeping their candidates under check over fears of possible poaching as they expect a tighter contest. So, to avoid possible horse-trading by Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress and its ally AIUDF on Friday shifted at least 21 of their candidates to Jaipur, Rajasthan.
On the condition of anonymity, an AIUDF member spoke to Headline8 regarding the recent event.
He stated: “Our 21 candidates, who contested in the recently concluded assembly elections in Assam, were sent to Jaipur in Congress-ruled Rajasthan as we fear that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will resort to their “dirty tricks” and try to influence them.”
Meanwhile he also said that 18 AIUDF candidates and three from Congress have already reached Fairmont hotel on Jaipur. They were flown by a special aircraft. Even party is also planning to shift more candidates of Congress and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) to Jaipur.
All the arrangements have been arranged by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for their stay in protected places.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader said over telephonic conversation, “The candidates staying in Rajasthan will be provided new mobile phones so that no outsiders can contact them,” He also said, “In view of Manipur election experience; we are not taking any chances, where the saffron party managed to cobble up the numbers as some Congress MLAs joined the BJP and helped them to form the government.”
Candidates will also visit Ajmer Sharif during their stay in Rajasthan.
Now the main questions that arise out of this scenario- Does the top leaders of the Mahajot not trust their candidates? Do the candidates care more about power than loyalty and principles?
