The Assam Police and Indian Army have been on high alert since they came to know about the involvement of ULFA-I in the abduction of three ONGC employees from the Lakuwa oil field.
Among the three victims, two have returned to their homes- Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia. However, the whereabouts of the third employee Ritul Saikia is still not found.
While ULFA-I claims that Saikia is not with them, Assam Police on the other hand believes that the militant group still has the ONGC employee with them in Nagaland
Meanwhile, ULFA-I commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah in a press release on Thursday stated,”Ritul Saikia, is not in our custody. The Assam Police and India Army know well where Ritul is. We have treated the three Assamese in a very well mannered as we too are Assamese blood. After the incident of firing we are not responsible for anyone. We bought them as an ONGC employee, but later we learned that they are an Assamese guy. Our search operation for Ritul Saikia will start as soon as the Indian Army stops their operation.”
“The responsibility of Ritul is not ours anymore. Assam Police and Indian Army have to take his responsibility,” Baruah added.
