Minister of Tea Tribe Welfare and Labour Welfare Department, Sanjoy Kishan took charge of his office at Janata Bhawan on May 17.
Further speaking on the occasion, minister Sanjoy Kishan said that he is constantly monitoring the Covid 19 situation in the tea gardens of the state.
He also mentioned that the Government of Assam has come up with new guidelines related to the tea gardens.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited the tea gardens of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh and took stock of the Covid 19 situation.
Minister Sanjay Kishan further mentioned that it is not possible to set up home quarantine facility in tea gardens as the chances of the virus spreading is more among the workers.
Hence isolation wards have been set up in and around the tea gardens.
The minister also stated that all the preventive measures taken in 2020 like –
Wearing masks, sanitization, and social distancing will be followed this year also.
However, he also cautioned that the situation is much grimmer and dangerous compared to last year.
Urging the Health Department of Assam to assist the tea tribe community, the minister stated,
“We have asked the Health Department to assist the tea tribe community in all possible ways.”
Speaking on the daily wage hike of the garden workers, the minister said,
“Whatever promise were made by the previous government related to daily wages will be fulfilled and the government is working towards it.”
