Assam’s one of the most dreaded criminal Bubu Konwar was shot dead in a police encounter at Gekely, Sivasagar district on Wednesday night.
The veteran crimanal Bubu was accused in multiple murder, car theft and extortion cases.
Based on a piece of information, Sivasagar Police laid an ambush to apprehend the notorious criminal.
When confronted, Bubu started shooting at the police team, in return the police force also opened fire.
After a brief gun battle, Konwar was found injured. He was rushed immediately to Geleky Civil Hospital.
However, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared ‘brought dead’.
“One veteran criminal Bubu Konwar has been grievously injured in exchange of fire with @SivasagarPol at Geleky, Sibsagar when he targeted the police team. Has been taken to hospital. One pistol has been recovered from his possession.” Assam Police Special DGP, GP Singh informed on Twitter.

“The said Bubu Konwar succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at Geleky Civil Hospital.” GP Singh further informed.
