6 persons including one constable were arrested in central Assam after an operation was carried out by Nagaon Police, on Sunday.
According to reports, the cattle-laden trucks and the car were seized by the police in the district of Boghat.
Nagaon Police, via a tweet, affirmed that the constable involved has been arrested.
Moreover, another home guard associated with the smuggling has escaped but will be apprehended soon.
According to reports, the cattle heads were carried in two trucks from the Rajmai market in the Sivasagar district.
The registration numbers of the vehicles seized by the police are AS-01-NC-1843, AS-01-LC-5157, and AS-02-Z-6111, respectively.
Informing about the seizure and the arrest of the persons involved in the illegal transportation, Nagaon Police tweeted: “6 Arrested for illegal Cattle Transportation, seized 2 Trucks, 1 car, 42 Cattle and 34,560. In follow-up, 1 Constable and 1 Home Guard found facilitating such consignments. Constable Arrested, HG absconding but will be caught soon.
Nagaon Police under the leadership of superintendent of police Anand Mishra continues to carry out similar operations against cattle syndicates and smuggling in the district.
