Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has submitted a proposal to the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) to hike the monthly-per-unit cost of electricity by Rs. 2 in the state.
The hiked prices are expected to come into force from the new year and the APDCL are awaiting an approval from the AERC.
This comes as a huge blow to the common people who are already burdened by price rice amidst the pandemic.
It is worth noting that the AERC has set the current-per-cost of electricity at Rs. 7.25 per unit above 5 kW load. For connections below that, the cost is divided as for the first 120 units consumed, it is charged at ₹5.4 per unit. For 120-240 units, ₹6.65 and above 240 units, it is ₹7.65 per unit.
