The Assam Bookfair at Chandmari’s Assam Engineering Institute has witnessed a huge arrival of readers. Books worth around Rs 1 crore have been on sale so far. On the first day of the fair, books worth Rs 15 lakh and on the second-day book worth Rs 25 lakh were sold. Moreover, books worth Rs 20 lakh are being sold at the fair on the 3rd day and a record sale has been made on the first day of the year worth Rs 40 lakh.
A number of books at the Assam Book Fair have received a huge readership. Among them, Anuradha Sharma Pujari’s book ‘Iyat Ekhon Aranya Asil’ which has won the Sahitya Akademi Award this time is in high demand. The book has been gone out of stock in most of the book houses at the book fair in just four days.
Another book by Anuradha Sharma Pujari, ‘Mereng’, ‘Arbachin’ of Dr. Ranottama Das Bikram, Baiduryya Baruah‘s ‘AkouSentu Da’ and the newest author Indranee Sharma‘s ‘Abir’ are the books which are also in great demand.
More than 150 books of various writers have been released in these five days.
