In the interesting development amid Russian-Ukraine-War, several current and former European politicians addressed and wrote to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to consider the Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine. An open letter was signed by 36 European politicians from the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia addressing to the Nobel Committee urged the Committee to consider this request.
The statement reads, “We therefore humbly call upon you, the Committee, to consider : Extending and there by re-opening the nomination procedure for the Nobel Peace Prize until March 31, 2022 to allow for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine.”
It is also mentioned that the deadline for nomination of Nobel Awards expired on January 31. Therefore the group of politician wants the Nobel Committee to re-open the nomination procedure and reconsider it.
