A 25-year-old male was found dead inside a hotel at Sijubari in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati on Wednesday morning, April 6. Hatigaon Police informed that the incident happened in the Hotel Paradise Inn of Sijubari.
The deceased, identified as Dhrubajyoti Deka, came to the hotel on April 5 along with two of his friends.
They were accompanied by three females who were provided by a lady, suspected to be a female pimp of a prostitution racket, said the police.
Deka and his friends had consumed alcohol and took three separate rooms to spend the night accompanied by a female each. Earlier today morning, one of Deka’s friends found him dead inside the hotel room.
CCTV footage of the hotel shows that the women had left early in the morning before the three woke up. One of the friends informed the media that the women were provided by an unknown person on payment of Rs 3000 each.
The cause of the death remains unknown and the body has been sent for post-mortem to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
“Foul play cannot be denied and we are investigating the matter. The cause of death can be determined only after the post-mortem report,” said Officer-in-Charge of Hatigaon Police Station.
