16 villages in the district of Hailakandi in Assam will be developed as model villages during the current financial year. The announcement has been made by the District Development Commissioner Ranajit Kumar Laskar.
The initiative has been taken through the Pradhan Mantri Aadarsh Gram Yojana will be implemented in 10 villages and they will receive rupees twenty lakh each for various works.
The selected 10 model villages under the PMADGY are, Barbond part III, Bakrihawar Part II and III, North Narayanpur Part IV, Palarpar, Ramnathpur Part V, Gharmurra Part V, Jacobpura Part V, Dhalai-Malai Part VI, Harishnagar Part I. The six model villages under Asom Adarsh Gram Yojana are Barbond Part I, Bhajantipur Part I, Rongpur Part VI, Dhalai-Malai Part V, North Kanchanpur Part II, Mohanpur Part II.
It is noted that the centrally sponsored scheme of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana(PMAGY) is being implemented since 2009-10 for integrated development of Scheduled Castes(SCs) majority villages. Since 2018-19, the scheme implementation guidelines were comprehensively revised. During 2021-22, this scheme has been merged with two other existing schemes of this Department to be known as Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana(PM-AJAY), for which an amount of Rs.1800.00 cr. has been allocated for the financial year 2021-22.
