Rongali Bihu, the principal festival of Assam, celebrated with much fun and frolic across the state by all communities, Guwahati’s Lokpriya Bordoloi International Airport also geared up with several novel ideas being implemented at the airport. The terminal building is decorated by several ways to give an aesthetic look and feel with local flavour.
Two sets of traditional Assamese handloom “Tat-shal” are placed at the departure and arrival hall and being operated live to give an authentic feel of Assamese rural household. Two cribs are done up with several replicas of dhol, taal, pepe, khol etc. that is making one feel the time of Rongali Bihu.
Festival spirit is also being conveyed by the live programme of Bihu dance, Bihu husori and Ojapali performed in sequence at the kerb side area of the airport. Many selfie points are also developed with Assamese authentic backdrops.
A Bihu dance workshop has been organized where many employees of airport are taking part and learning the dance form from the experts. Passengers and onlookers are seen flocking together around the installations and enjoying the most beautiful time of the Northeast region.
