Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed the Assam flood situation.
The chief minister urged the union home minister to declare the flood situation in Assam as “serious”.
The chief minister also urged home minister Amit Shah to release Rs 327 crore from SDRF and money from NDRF funds to rehabilitate the flood-affected people.
The chief minister said the Centre would help in the compensation but would urge not to demand any packages.
The chief minister mentioned that houses of nearly 30 to 50 thousand people were damaged in the unprecedented floods and said that assistance by SDRF would be released by August.
SDRF expressed hope of getting money from NDRF when the relief account runs out.
