13th June, Guwahati: On Friday the Central Government of India told Karnataka Government High Court that installation of Aarogya Setu App on mobile phones is not mendatory for passengers travelling via Air or Rail. It is also decided that use of the Aarogya Setu App is voluntary.
The Additional Solicitor General M.N. Nargund told the Karnataka High Court that a person has the right to travel by Air or Train even without the Setu App on their mobie phone. However, he encouraged people to download the app.
This statement was made during a hearing of a petition filed by Cyber activist Anivar Aravind( Founder Executive Director of Indic Project). Aarogya Setu App is a Central Government initiated app launched on April 2020. With a download of over 100 Million, these app helps the Government to trace contacts of Covid-19 Positive patients.
