13th June, Guwahati: The Assam State Government announced that it will come up with a Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) by next week laying the guidelines to be followed when they reopen. In Assam, SEBA (the State Education Department), and The Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan both are separately preparing SOPs which will later be merged and one SOP will be framed.
The State Government has shown signs that they intend on resuming classes for X and XII in the first phase. Officials suggested 33 percent to 50 percent of students to have classes from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. and the remaining in other shifts. Officials also said that they are working on a guideline for sanitizing the Institutions regularly and closing nearby shops in order to prevent public gatherings.
Opening of bank accounts for every student is also planned by the State Government. This type of initiative will be very helpful in the future, in case there are plans to disburse financial benefits. The Officials also said they are seriously regarding the fact of providing some health insurance coverage for the students, however, it is not yet decided and they are waiting for the Minister’s approval.
