GUWAHATI: In view of rising water level of the Brahmaputra, plying of all kinds of boats/ferry service in Kamrup Metropolitan District has been suspended till June 24 evening. The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, informed about the rising water level of Brahmaputra.
The DC has directed that all kinds of boats/ferry services in the Kamrup Metropolitan District will remain suspended with immediate effect, till evening of 24 June 2020. Re-commencement of such services is subject to recession of the water level. He also said, “plying of ferry service in such situation may cause untoward incidents which may lead to threat to the lives and properties of the public in general”
District disaster management authority of Kamrup(metro) stated that the river is forecast to rise above the danger mark within the next 2 to 3 days. The directive has been given in view of public safety and security and in order to avoid any untoward incident.
