National Desk: An encounter broke out early Tuesday in Bundzoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The encounter resulted in the death of 2 unidentified militants and a CRPF Jawan. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site.
A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the 182 CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Bundzoo in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Tuesday morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon a search party of the forces, who retaliated, the official added.
The CRPF jawan Sunil Kale who was martyred during the encounter hailed from Pangaon village in Barshi tehsil of Solapur district in Maharashtra.
Around 108 militants have been encountered in Kashmir in 2020 with around 32 militants being killed in June itself.
