Guwahati Desk: On June 9, 2020, the local administration along with the Department of Health announced Nagaon Umshru village as a containment zone. This announcement was made after 2 women were tested positive. The Nagaon Umshru village is situated at West Guwahati bordering Meghalaya. The village comes under Rani Development Block.
Local MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita expressed his anger stating that after declaring the area as a containment zone, the Administration has washed off their hands from all responsibility.
Today, the local MLA came to visit the ‘containment zone’ announced area. From the containment zone, he telephoned Palashbari’s Circle Officer and Kamrup Metro Official and ordered them to provide food and other necessities to the people of the containment zone. He also advised the officials to give proper warning signs at the entrance of the containment zone.
During Ramendra Narayan Kalita’s visit, Rani’s Regional Panchayat President Parameshwar Barman, South Bholagaon Panchayat President Amrit Doley, AGP leader Praneshwar Rabha, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Inspection Committee Member Subhash Sarma also with many other prominent persons was present.
It is to noted that, on 9th June, Padumi Rabha came back home after she recovered from COVID-19. But on June 22, another woman named Putuli Rabha from the same village was tested COVID-19 positive.
On June 28, the Department of Health took swab tests of 18 residents. The swab test result still awaits.
