Guwahati: According to the standard procedure, a person who is treated for Coronavirus can only be released after testing negative for COVID-19 twice.
Presently, patients have to undergo two tests- the antigen test whose results can be known in a short period of time and the RT-PCR test whose results take 3-4 days.
However, our sources exclusively reported Headline8 that patients in GMCH which include doctors, hospital staff, and normal civilians are being released based on their antigen tests whose results are not that reliable, in spite of testing positive in the RT-PCR test.
According to the sources, a few doctors of GMCH were released even after testing positive in the RT-PCR test. The doctors, however, tested negative in the antigen tests.
The virology department of the GMCH released these results.
This can be considered as one of the main reasons for the rapid rise in Corona positive cases throughout the city.
