News Desk: The NCC fraternity in Meghalaya celebrated ” Kargil Divas” today through the medium of online Webinar Seminar. It included remembering the heroes of Kargil Divas. Narrating their stories of valor and gallant action against Pakistani regular army personnel. The Pakistani army masqueraded as militants in harsh high-rise mountains of Kargil. The gallant action of brave Indian soldiers forced the Pakistan army to withdraw. This victory is celebrated as Kargil Day or Vijay Divas on 26 July every year.
North East Region is also proud to have made an important contribution to Kargil Victory. The brave ‘Son of Meghalaya’ Captain Keishing Clifford Nongrum, MVC(posthumous) made the supreme sacrifice. Clifford Nongrum lost his life in capturing Point 4812 in the Batalik sector of Kargil. He was an ex NCC cadet. He was also an alumnus of St Anthony College. The online function conducted by NCC Meghalaya. It included an homage to the brave army officer by his father Keishing Peter. The online function included a PowerPoint presentation on his gallant action. The online function also organized recitation of motivational poems and songs full of patriotism. More than 250 cadets and ANOs took part in this event. The team of NCC officials supported and guided them.
