On July 30 the celebrated couple pledged their support to the victims of flood wrecked Assam. Virat and Anushka in a statement said that they are supporting three relief work organizations. ActionAid India, Goonj, and Rapid Response are the organizations supported by Virat and Anushka.
The couple also appreciated the relief works done by the three aid organizations.
The couple also pledged their support to the people of flood-affected Bihar. Virat and Anushka have also requested the public to show their support to Assam and Bihar.
Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the people of Assam and Bihar are also suffering from the flood. The devastating flood has affected millions of people in Assam and Bihar.
The flood situation of Assam is worsening every day. Till now 133 people lost their lives due to flood and flood triggered landslides. 107 people lost their life due to the devastating flood. Due to landslides, a total of 26 people lost their lives.
According to an estimate by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) a total of 1.6 million people have been affected by the devastating flood. A total of 1,536 villages across 21 districts of Assam are affected.
Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri also called for assistance for the flood-affected North-Eastern states. Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen also expressed sympathy towards the people of Assam.
