Guwahati: NDRF organized a campaign on “Tree plantation” at the NDRF campus, Patgaon, Assam on Thursday, under the All India Tree Plantation Campaign. The plantation drive was organized to generate awareness about providing natural shade in open spaces by increasing the green cover which will help in reducing urban heat and improving Air quality.
During this campaign, 200 saplings of different varieties were planted by rescuers. The purpose of this “Tree plantation” is to promote & protect the green cover in the country and state as a part of the green initiative. Plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
During the campaign, Shri R S Gill, Commandant, 1st Battalion NDRF stated that “Tree plantation is very important for the community & this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the people about environment conservation”.
NDRF rescuers must be connected with sapling plantation and awareness programme which are the key factors to encouraging the citizens to protect the environment by planting trees. NDRF will organize more plantation drive campaigns in different locations in the near future.
R S Gill, Officiating Commandant said, “We are thankful to Forest department for providing saplings. Tree plantation is very important for the community & this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the people about environment conservation. Let us all resolve to use only cloth bags and make a polythene free zone.”
