New Delhi: On the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the citizens for their pledge towards self-reliant.
Emphasizing on ‘Make in India to make for the world’, PM Modi highlighted the importance to make India self-reliant, saying it was not just a word but should be a “mantra” for the people. To become self-reliant, India must utilize the vast resources to produce not just for the domestic market but for the global market.
Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, he said India was going through a unique phase due to the pandemic, but the resolve of the people and its pledge for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ would achieve victory.
He said, “I believe in the capabilities of our fellow Indians. I believe in the abilities of our youth. I am confident that we can achieve this goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat with the help of the approach and thought process of our citizens.”
“India’s share in the world economy should increase for which we have to be self-reliant. We have to move forward with our mantra of ‘Make in India’, but also with ‘Make for World’,” he added.
Stressing upon the revolution in India’s health sector, PM Modi launched the ‘National Digital Health Mission’, a completely technology-based initiative. He said that every India would get an ID card that would contain all relevant information on the health condition which could be used to access health services and medicines.
“From today a new campaign is going to start in the country. It is the National Digital Health Mission, which will bring a new revolution in the health sector in India,” PM Modi said.
“Every Indian will get a Health ID card. Every time you visit a doctor or a pharmacy, everything will be logged in this card. From the doctor’s appointment to the medication, everything will be available in your health profile,” he added.
He spoke about menstrual hygiene and said, “This government is constantly concerned about the health of daughters and sisters. Through 6,000 Janaushudi centers, about 5 crore women have got sanitary pads at Rs 1.”
He further said that three coronavirus vaccines are at different stages of trials and a roadmap is ready for production and distribution.
He said, “Today in India, not one, or two, but three vaccines are in the stage of testing. As soon as there is a green signal from scientists, the country is prepared to produce it in large numbers. How the vaccine will reach every Indian in the least amount of time – we have a roadmap ready for that.”
Moreover, in a strong message to Pakistan and China, without taking names, PM Modi underscored, “Those who challenge India’s sovereignty, be it LoC or LAC, have been given a befitting reply in their language. What our jawans can do, what the country can do, the world has seen in Ladakh.”
The Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort was attended by over 4,000 people, including MPs, diplomats, and officials with Covid-19 safety protocols and special arrangements.
