At the hilltop of Narakakhur Hills, you can see the astonishing view of Guwahati. There are no foods or restaurants available but if you visit in the evenings you can see the flickers of the city lights that slowly light up the whole city. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s a nice place to spend some time.

If you want to spend an evening sitting at the bank of the Brahmaputra River this may the destination for you. With beautiful sights, you can sit there and see the Sunset. People near the area also go jogging to Bellevue, Uzan Bazar. Though some say it Valley View actually it’s Bellevue.

A stunning freshwater lake in the city of Guwahati, Dipor Bil or Deepor Beel is home to a huge variety of birds. This deepwater lake gets its water from the rivers of Basistha and Kalamini and it is considered to be the largest lake in the Brahmaputra valley. 5. Guwahati Zoo:
A part of the Hengrabari Reserve Forest, Guwahati Zoo offers an unexpected tryst with nature. The zoo shares its border with the Botanical Garden and is situated over a vast expanse of land. It is considered to be the green lung of the otherwise crowded city and is home to a number of rare animals and birds. You must also visit the zoo museum and take a look at the unique Herbarium collection which has more than 500 species of indigenous flora. It takes at least a couple of hours to cover the entire area so ensure you have enough time in hand.

7. Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Center:
Under the aegis of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, the entire hillock with the Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow perched on top, along with the surrounding grounds have been transformed into the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Center, dedicated to the spirit and legacy of the majestic River Brahmaputra. The tree lined walkways leading to the this pedestrian only campus, with an Art Garden, a 170 years old Heritage Bungalow, an open air Amphitheatre along with a modern glass façade building functioning as a Café, and the Riverside Garden with the open grass patches set amidst trees, with art installations, specially designed activity spaces and viewing decks overlooking the river, are landscaped in a way to refresh the senses.
The legacy of this place as a focal point continues from the days of yore when this hillock and its surroundings along the river was called Itakhuli, and was the base camp of the most powerful BorPhukan of the Ahom Kingdom. It was this hillock from where the legendary Lachit BorPhukan surveyed the battle with the Mughal army, and despite him being unwell, led a charge with his men for the decisive attack against the Mughals. The bravery of his decisive attack, witnessed by the River Brahmaputra, changed the course of the battle and the Mughals were pushed back forever. As and when the campus expands in the future, a proposed memorial dedicated to the memory of Lachit BorPhukan will be located at the far side of the hillock, with a clear view of Saraighat.

9. Assam State Museum:
For a deeper insight into the history and culture of the state, Assam State Museum, located at the heart of the city, is a great stopover. The collections include royal garments, weapons, paintings, sculptures, stone and copper inscriptions, woodwork and more. Some memorabilia from World War II is also on display. Established in 1940, it is among the bigger multipurpose museums in the country. It is divided into various sections like sculptures, natural history, folk art, crafts and epigraphy. Some interesting exhibits in these include bamboo items, coins, musical instruments, ivory paintings etc. A library inside the museum is particularly amazing, as it houses a rich collection of journals, periodicals and books relating to mythology, biography, art and culture, and other subjects.
