The Ethanol blended petrol which is also known as the alternative Green fuel helps to reduce pollution. The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has recently taken decision to blend 10 percent Ethanol with 100 percent petrol in the petrol pumps of North East. In view of reducing pollution this was an initiative by the IOCL. But this decision created tension among the petroleum dealers.
The petroleum dealers have appealed to the Centre to direct oil marketing companies (OMCs) to comply with all requisite norms before dispensing ethanol blend petrol. The North East India Petroleum Dealers’ Association (NEIPDA) has clerified that it has no objection to IOCL’s plan.
