Gautam Adani, India’s richest person, is now ranked fourth on Forbes’ list of the world’s richest people. This comes after Microsoft founder Bill Gates said last week that he will donate $20 billion of his wealth to his non-profit, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
In a blog post, the 66-year-old technology billionaire announced that he intended to eventually give away all of his wealth to the foundation, which he co-founded with his ex-wife. “My giving this money is not a sacrifice at all. I feel privileged to be involved in tackling these great challenges, I enjoy the work, and I believe I have an obligation to return my resources to society in ways that have the greatest impact for improving lives.
I hope others in positions of great wealth and privilege will step up in this moment too,”he had stated, making the big announcement that would collapse his position atop the world’s richest list. According to recent Forbes estimates, Gates’ net worth is around $102 billion.
Meanwhile, Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani’s net worth is estimated to be at $114 billion. His net worth increased from $ 50 billion to $ 90 billion between 2021 and 2022. He is the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, one of India’s top three corporations.
“Adani Group is constituted of seven publicly listed entities with combined market capitalization in excess of$197.49 billion (as on July 19, 2022) with businesses spanning across Energy, Ports & Logistics, Mining & Resources, Gas, Defence & Aerospace and Airports. In each of its business areas, the Group has established leadership positions in India,”according to its official website.
The 60-year-old business magnate surpassed Mukesh Ambani as Asia’s richest person in February.
While Elon Musk is the richest person on the Forbes list, with a net worth of $230 billion, Bernard Arnault of Louis Vuitton is ranked second with $149 Billion. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos ranks third on the list with $139 Billion. Gautam Adani & Family is fourth with a net worth of $115 billion. On fifth, Bill Gates with a net worth of $102 Billion. Larry Ellison on sixth with $96 B. Warren Buffett with the rank seven and Larry Page on eight. On the ninth we have Sergey Brin and on the tenth Reliance founder, Mukesh Ambani with $88 Billion net worth.
