Third Cabinet meeting of Assam : Important Decisions Taken in the Field of Health, Education and Tourism To Improve State Economy

Several serious decisions have been taken after holding the third Cabinet meeting by the Assam Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Haflong, Dima-Hasao on Monday, 19 January.
Key decisions have been taken especially including the Assam-Meghalaya border issues and also on some other fields such as Health, Education and Tourism. The significant decision taken by the Cabinet meeting will surely provided the ray of hope for many.
The decisions taken on the introduction of Science and Commerce departments in the following colleges:
Commerce department in
• Morigaon College
• Sualkuchi Budram Madhab Satradhikar College
Science department in
• Moridhal College Dhemaji
• Salbari College Baksa
• Tezpur College
• Bhawanipur Anchalik College
• Tingkhong College
• BB Krishna College, Baksa
• Basugaon College
Reports provided by the Government of Assam Higher Education there are 2 Central Universities, 8 State Universities and 301 Government provincialised Colleges in Assam. As compared to the colleges having the stream of Arts, the number of colleges having Science is less while the colleges having Commerce stream is very few. The inclusion of the Commerce department in colleges will surely bring some new scopes relating business, economny, accountance, banking and finance to the students. Even the government should give more importance to this department as it can help building manpower whose contribution to the growth of Indian Economy is needed at the present day. India needs more business-man like Tata and Ambani. And for this, the education of business should be executed including few more fields.
It is noted that the number of students migrating to Guwahati or other states for higher cities was increasing the prior Covid-19 situation. The inclusion of the new department in the colleges will increase the seats in the colleges. Now students aiming to study science and commerece will now get a new ray of hope after the decision of the third Cabinet meeting.
Zoo and Wildlife sanctuaries at various places of Assam attract the tourists all over the world. Herds of rhionoceros, vast grassy and green forests of park can easily attract the tourist of all over the world. Besides Kaziranga National park, ther other wildlife sanctuaries like Manas, Namweri, Orang, Dibru-Saikhuwa while the only zoo in Assam is built in Guwahati. The decision of building the new zoo cum wildlife sanctuary will play a very important role in Indian economy. Decisions have been taken on setting up the Cachar Wild Life Safari cum Zoo at Dholai, Cachar. Rs 214.54 cr. Is being sanctioned for building the second zoo in Assam. This will surely be beneficial to the economy of Assam as well as India as bringning a positive hope to the development of tourism.
The Assam Chief-Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also approved some principles to resolve 6 out of the 12 Assam-Meghalaya dispute in the third Cabinet meeting. In 1972 Meghalaya carved out of Assam under Assam Reorganisation Act, 1971. Though the Assam-Meghalaya border was an old problem, the dispute tension sparked off afresh when a police officer allegedly misbehaved with two men from Meghalaya in Umlaphr area.
The approval to Assam Medical Education Service (Amendment) Rules, 2022 to regulate the promotion of doctors working as faculty under Dynamic Assured Career Progression Scheme will also provide scope for timely promotion and financial upgrade without linkage to vacancies and on fulfillment of fixed criteria after 3 years, 7 years and 10 years of service.
The decision of Rs 50 crores for tourism infrastructure in Umrangso, Panimur and Haflong to be jointly developed by Assam Tourism Development Corporation and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council will boost the immense tourism potential of Dima-Hasao District.
