A Pakistani woman named Ankita Attique was convicted by a court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday for sending ‘blasphemous messages’ to her estranged friend.
The woman was sentenced to death after her estranged friend, Farooq Hassanat, filed a case against her in 2020. She was charged with committing blasphemy against the prophet, insulting Islam and violating cyber-crime laws.
Reportedly both were friends but a fight led to an extremely angry Anika sending blasphemous messages to Farooq. He asked her to delete the messages and ask for forgiveness but the woman refused to do so which led Farooq to file an FIR against her.
