Animesh Bhuyan murder case: Jorhat Police submits charge sheet

Jorhat: 18 January: The Jorhat Police has finally submitted the charge sheet of 339 pages after 50 days have passed since the AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan lynching case.

Bhuyan the Educational Secretary of the Brahmaputra Anchalik unit of All Assam Student’s Union (Golaghat) died in the mob attack which had taken place in the heart of Jorhat town on November 29,2021. 15 accused were arrested in the case however one prime accused Neeraj Das alias ‘Kola Lora’ died in an accident while he was in the police custody.

The chief minister had assured the stringent action in the case, directed the Assam police to furnish the charge sheet within 30 days of special trial.

A total of 15 were charged in the case though police received no  authentic information against the person named Burhagohain.  As disclosed by the Superintendent of Police Ankur Jain on Monday his name is kept away from the charge sheet in the non-doing. According to him a total of 76 people testified in the incident. A special investigating group of 8 persons also conducted an inquiry into the case. The investigating unit led by police officer Khiteshwar  Bania. Dandiram Bara was the investigating officer in the state’s trembling gang rape case.

Superintendent of Police Jain said that the government has been called upon by the police to conduct the trial in the first track court. He added that a proper charge sheet has been filed containing all the information and content. The trial. The superintendent of police also expressed hope that the culprits involved in the case will be severely punished at the end of the process. Jorhat police have already called upon the government to appoint jorhat’s eminent lawyer Rintu Goswami as a special public prosecutor in the case.

The killing of the student leader in this manner in the middle of Jorhat city had evoked a strong reaction across the state. There were demands across the state for severe punishment for those involved in the incident. The Jorhat police then registered a case of 2620/21 under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and launched an investigation. It may be recalled that,  The number of pages on the main page of the complaint, including case diary, is 880.
