On Monday, the Gauhati High Court, on account of the encounter deaths since May last year, asked for a thorough clarification. The HC directed the advocate general of Assam to appraise it of these alleged human rights violations.
The decision was taken after a PIL was filed by an Assam resident and Delhi-based lawyer at the Gauhati High Court. According to him, the police encounters were fake and a major human rights violation.
