Police Assaults Journalist in Chirang; JAFA condemns

Police Assaults Journalist in Chirang

JAFA (Journalist Association for Assam) Central and Chirang district committee strongly condemned the incident in which a journalist of Pratidin Time, Jayanta Devnath was beaten up by police in Basugaon in Chirang.

The journalist was publicly beaten up by the police in the streets of Basugaon city. Notably, Jayanta Devnath had asked the police why Pradeep Shah, a police constable, was riding his motorcycle without a helmet.

The police charge fines on people without helmets but when the policemen ride motorcycles without helmets, is it justifiable?

Why should the police not obey the laws and the common man has to?

It was then that the police brutally thrashed Jayanta Devnath. JAFA  President Abhideep Chaudhary and Chirang district Committee JAFA President Sunil Sharma and secretary Abdul Malek Ahmed strongly condemned the incident in which the journalist was beaten up by the police.
