HSLC New Education Policy decides to include 50% objective questions

Education

In accordance with the New Education Policy (NEP), the Board of Secondary Examination, Assam (SEBA) made an important announcement about the Secondary School Leaving Examination on Wednesday (HSLC). The HSLC exam question paper will be revised.

“India’s National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision for India’s new education system.”

“The idea is to make education more qualitative than quantitative,” said RC Jain, President of SEBA, in an interview with G+.

The 100-point question papers will include 45-point objective type questions in four subjects. English, General Science, General Mathematics, and Social Science are the four subjects. This will be applicable beginning with the upcoming 2023 HSLC exams. SEBA has also stated that the first 50% of the questions (i.e. 45 questions) will be objective type questions (very short questions – 01 mark each), with the remaining 50% consisting of an internal assessment of 10 marks and a mix of objective type questions.

“I have recently passed the 10th board exam from SEBA. I used to tutor along with many of my colleagues who studied in CBSE schools. When we compare our question papers, it is amazing. The format of asking questions is not advanced and it does not train us to crack today’s competitive exams for entrance exams. Devpratim Pathak, a student of Jatiya Vidyalaya, said, “The change in the format of marking and enquiry was long overdue.”
