68th National Film Awards: Assam bagged Five National Film Award for 4 Films

Assam shone at the 68th National Film Awards on Friday, with four films from the state receiving five awards. The film ‘Bridge’ won the Rajat Kamal award for Best Assamese film in the feature film category. Kripal Kalita directed the film, which Sabita Devi produced.

In the same category, actress Aimee Baruah’s film ‘Semkhor’ bagged the Rajat Kamal award for Best Dimasa Film. Baruah was also given a Special Jury Mention for her performance in the film.

In the non-feature film category, ‘Manah aru Manuh’ (Manas and People) won the Rajat Kamal award for Best Environment Film. Dip Bhuyan directed the film, which was co-produced by the Directorate of Manas National Park and Aaranyak.

Also in the non-feature film category, the Karbi language film ‘Kachichinithu’ (The Boy with a Gun) won the Rajat Kamal award for Best Short Fiction Film. Khanjan Kishore Nath directed and produced the film.

This year, 305 feature films in 30 languages were chosen as entries. In the non-feature film category, 148 films from 28 languages were submitted.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Anurag Thakur congratulated all the winners and stated that, despite the fact that 2020 was a particularly difficult year for everyone due to the pandemic, the nominations included outstanding works. The Minister also thanked the Jury for their time and effort in reviewing the entries and selecting the best for the awards.
