A film based on the life of celebrated industrialist and former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata could be released soon. The research for Ratan Tata’s biopic is nearing the end, and the film will most likely be directed by National Award-winning Sudha Kongara.
According to reports, production on the film will begin at the end of 2023. “Ratan Tata is one of our country’s most renowned industrialists, and it’s an honour to tell his story on the big screen,” a source told reporters.
The film will portray many aspects of Tata’s life as well as many incidents that are not publicly available.“His life is an inspiration for every Indian around the world. The script work is also in the works and the makers are planning to start principal photography in the last quarter of next year,” the source added.
According to the reports, actors Abhishek Bachchan and Suriya could be cast in the biopic. There has been no official confirmation as of yet.
Meanwhile, Tata served as Chairman of Tata Sons, the Tata group’s holding company, from 1991 until his retirement on December 28, 2012. Ratan Tata, the 84-year-old industrialist and Emeritus Chairman of Tata Sons, was awarded the RSS-affiliated Sewa Ratna last month for his contributions to philanthropy.
During his tenure, the group’s revenues increased dramatically, reaching more than $100 billion in 2011-12. Tata was given the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, and Tata Chemicals after his retirement.
In 2008, he received India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan. He has also received honorary doctorates from several Indian and international universities.
