Kangana Ranaut suggests Twitter should verify account through Aadhar Card, extend support

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, backed new Twitter owner Elon Musk’s decision to charge USD $8 per month for verified accounts on Sunday.

She described the social media platform as “intellectually and ideologically motivated” and stated that anyone with an Aadhar card “must get” a verified blue tick.

“Twitter is the best social media platform that is there right now, it’s is intellectually/ ideologically motivated not about looks or lifestyle, I could never understand the idea of verification that some selected few get, as if others don’t have an authentic existence, for example, I will get verified but if my father wants a blue tick then 3-4 clowns will dismiss his very identity as if he is living some illegal life…everyone who has an aadhaar card must get varied simple as that,” Kangana wrote on her Instagram stories.

Elon Musk’s controversial takeover of Twitter prompted the Dhaakad actor’s remarks.

Ranaut’s Instagram stories have recently been flooded with fan requests to reactivate the actor’s suspended account.

Kangana’s Twitter account was ‘permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter rules’ in May 2021. The actress was suspended after making an incendiary post in which she claimed that the victory of the Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly election had resulted in violence.

“Also paying a certain amount to maintain a Twitter account will only help it build its integrity, there are no free lunches in this world, have you ever thought about all these platforms that you access freely how do they sustain themselves? They don’t just sell data, they make you a part of them, influence you and then sell you (your voice, consciousness) every single minute of the day, and that’s why there is no free will in such platforms, so it’s not a bad idea to try to build a self-sustaining SM platform…it is easy to arm-twist a bankrupt company even if it intends to hold a high-value system sooner or later it will have a price tag,” Kangana added.

Musk recently confirmed the reports, announcing that the company will charge USD 8 per month for Twitter’s subscription service, which will include priority replies, mentions, and searches.

“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for USD 8/month,” He tweeted about it.

Meanwhile, Kangana will next be seen in ‘Tejas’ and the period drama film ‘Emergency,’ which will also be her first solo directorial effort.
