A spectacular event was recently held at Dekasang in Sonapur in a solemn atmosphere. It was an evening of poetry and music and an ode to Assam’s legendry poet, Jnanpith Awardee Nilomonii Phukan as Raul Kaushik Nath Foundation organizes the 2nd Edition of “Monkobita” on February 19 at Sonapur.
Bibhash Choudhury, Head of Department, English, Gauhati University, inaugurated the event.
Moreover, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, CMD, Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd, and one of the members of the Raul Kaushik Nath Foundation, delivered a welcome address at the ‘Mann Kavita’ event.
Some of the well-known personalities from the world of art and culture were also present at this event.
Internationally acclaimed actor Adil Hussain, National Award-winning film director and actress Dr. Santwana Bordoloi, popular actor-director Tapan Das, theatre personality and artiste Nayan Prasad, popular singer Angarag Papon Mahanta, singer-composer Joi Baruah, singer-songwriter Sankhuraj Konwar were among the prominent artists who participate at the event an evening of poetry recitations, musical performances, and screening of the film ‘An Unending Expanse’ based on the life of poet Phookan. Ghazals and Jazz music were also a part of the celebrations.
Eminent singers like Angarag Papan Mahanta, Joi Baruah participated in the event light up the meeting with their melodious performance. The event was also attended by poet Nilmani Phukan’s son Amitabh Phukan.
