Mumbai: Siddharth Pithani, the flatmate of Sushant Singh Rajput has told the Central Bureau of Investigation that eight hard drives were destroyed on June 8, six days before the actor allegedly committed suicide. Sushant’s family has accused the actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of abetting his suicide.
According to reports, Sushant and Rhea had a fight, following which she moved out of the actor’s house, after having stayed there during the coronavirus lockdown.
Siddharth said that he wasn’t aware of the contents of the hard drives, but noted that an IT person came to the house and conducted the process with both Sushant and Rhea present. He named house help Dipesh Sawant and cook Neeraj Singh as being witnesses to this.
Vikas Singh, the lawyer hired by Sushant’s father, told media that he suspects a larger conspiracy. “I think there’s something very sinister in this entire episode and it appears that there is the involvement of some big people in the case. The first thing that should happen is the suspension of Mumbai Commissioner of Police and DCP of that area,” Vikas Singh said.
Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) registered an FIR on Wednesday against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, talent manager Jaya Saha, Rajput’s former manager Shruti Modi, and one Gaurav Arya under sections 20, 22, 27 and 29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The Enforcement Directorate and CBI have already registered cases to probe the actor’s death. The narcotics FIR was filed after the Enforcement Directorate sent a letter to the NCB asking the agency to join the investigation.
NCB director said, “We received a letter from the ED on Tuesday stating that during their probe into financial aspects they found that drugs were supplied to Rhea and Sushant Singh Rajput. An NCB team will conduct an inquiry.”
