New Delhi: A webinar on the musical heritage and cultural relations of Rajasthan and Assam were organized by the Press Information Bureau, Jaipur. The event was organized under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ scheme of the Government of India. Unique Association Between Music And Instruments Of Assam & Rajasthan.
Welcoming the participants of Assam and Rajasthan in the webinar, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau, Jaipur (Region), described‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ as a unique initiative which, she said, was very important for the national unity, harmony, and goodwill.
Keynote speaker of the program was a famous Druvpad singer from Rajasthan Dr. Madhu Bhatt Telang who talked about the rich heritage of music and folk songs of Rajasthan. Dr. Bhatt mentioned the contribution of Rajasthan to classical music. Talking about musical traditions and folk songs she also referred to the great similarities between Assam and Rajasthan in devotional music.
Participating in the webinar Shri Madhab Krishna Das, recipient of the Sangeet Ratna title in the folk music of Assam presented various musical instruments including Dotara, Tokari, Gogona, Bhortala, Ektara and Seraj used by the Bodo tribe. While playing the instruments he also portrayed their close similarities with folk instruments of Rajasthan.
An artist of Regional Public Relations Bureau, Jaipur, Ms. Sangeeta Ghosh performed the famous Bihu Geet of Assam. The program was attended by various experts from Rajasthan and Assam besides officials and employees from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and media persons.
Mr. Prem Prakash Bharti, Director, Press Information Bureau, Jaipur welcomed everyone at the beginning of the program, and Assistant Director Mrs. Manju Meena extended the vote of thanks.
